STEP AP 242 benchmark

Benchmark #2

AFNeT & ProSTEP iViP associations are conducting the second STEP AP242 benchmark.

ISO STEP AP242 is available for the Automotive and Aerospace industries as well as many other branches of the manufacturing industry as a unique product data standard.

The benchmarking activities are needed to apply quality control to AP242 based implementations. Therefore, ProSTEP iViP & AFNeT decided in October 2015 to conduct the STEP AP242 benchmark and to support the user community that will drive the project. STEP AP242 applications become increasingly important for CAD and PDM interoperability in the manufacturing industries. This project will allow our communities to reach a status of maturity for these applications.

Test results will be documented for each implementation participating in the benchmark. Criteria are: formal correctness of the file, fulfillment of end-to-end validation properties, and an end-user validation.

The second benchmark has started with a project kick off conference call on February 16th. The results will be published early 2017.

This project is composed of two work-packages :

  • WP 1: WP 1: CAD workpackage managed by AFNeT.
  • WP 2: PDM workpackage managed commonly by ProSTEP iViP and AFNeT.
